One Day Trip from Agra

Agra is one of the best tourist destinations in India. People come to Agra from all over the world.  It is located at a distance of 231 kms from Delhi via the Yamuna Expressway and about 236 kms from Jaipur making the famous tourist golden triangle. 

It has so many good places nearby which fall within 3 to 4 hrs of driving making it easy for someone to make a day trip successfully.

Fatehpur Sikri

One Day Trip from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri is just 36 kms away from Agra on Agra-Bikaner Highway via AH-1 and NH-2. It was built by Mughal King Akbar the Great in 1564 A.D. It is said that the city was founded by a grateful emperor in honour of Sheikh Salim Chishti. 

Akbar is said to have gone to him for his blessings to get a son. When a boy was born, Akbar named him Salim and founded the city of Fatehpur Sikri. The splendour of its architecture, Dargah of Sheikh Salim Chishti, palaces of Akbar’s queens, the Buland Darwaza to the fort and many more wonderful sites will transport one into history and bring it alive to watch with fascination. Read More

How to Reach Fatehpur Sikri from Agra

Drive via Agra-Bikaner road/ NH11 for 41kms. UP/ Rajasthan buses from interstate Bus Terminus are regularly available. Taxi services are available for Sikri for tourists.

Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary

Situated right on the Agra-Bikaner Road / NH 11, the sanctuary is about 53 kms from Agra on the outskirts of the town of Bharatpur. It is a world-heritage site. The place is a man-made haven for more than 230 variety of bird species found on the wetlands of the sanctuary. The place was declared a protected area in 1971. Read More

How to reach

Drive via Agra-Bikaner road/ NH11 up to Bharatpur. At the highway roundabout take the second exit to reach the sanctuary at 3.5 km. All the buses going to Jaipur connect the sanctuary at Bharatpur. Taxi services are available directly for tourists.

Jaipur

One Day Trip from Agra to Jaipur

The pink city and capital of Rajasthan is only 236 kms form Agra on Agra-Bikaner road/ NH-11. This is a well known tourist destination close to Agra, which is, at a distance of about 4hr drive with own conveyance.

Drive via Agra-Bikaner road/ NH11.Regular UP/ Rajasthan buses are available from interstate Bus Terminus. Good tourist packages are available from tourist transport companies.

Bateshwar-Dhaulpur

Bateshwar is situated on NH 2 at a distance of about 70 kms from Agra. The place is Famous for its 101 Shiva temples which were built by Raja Badan Singh Bhaduria. The place is associated with legends of Mahabharata also when it was known as Shouripur. 

It is also the birth place of Lord Neminath, the 22nd tirthanker of the Jain faith. Dhaulpur is about 84 kms from Bateshwar. The places to visit at Dhaulpur are varied in nature and magnificence. Nihal Tower, Shergarh Fort-built by Sher Shah Suri.

The waterfall in Sarmathura, Talab-e-Shahi built in 1617 by Shah Jahan and maintained by the rulers of Dhaulpur, Ramsagar Sanctuary-famous for the aquatic migratory birds in winter and national Chambal wildlife sanctuary of Indian muggers and ghariyals are only some of the fantastic places to visit during the day trip. Read More

Drive via MDR 77W and AH1/NH2. Take regular buses going especially for the temple complex/ Dhaulpur. Taxi services/ tourist packages are also available.

Soor Sarovar

The Bird sanctuary of Soor Sarovar is at a distance of only 15 kms from Agra. It is on the Mathura-Agra Highway. It is a small area of barely 4.5 square km but the wetland has been a protected place under the wildlife act 1990 due to its ecological importance. 

Soor Sarovar is the only protected sanctuary in UP. It is famous for its Rock Python. Situated at a distance of 55 kms from Agra, right on NH-2 is the world renowned town of Mathura.

How to reach

Drive via AH 1/NH 2 for 21 kms up to Arsena to reach the Soor Sarovar sanctuary. The same route further goes for 31 kms to reach Mathura.

Govardhan

This is going to be a tour to tread the route of lord Krishna’s childhood life. The first stop in the tour should be Govardhan. The town of Govardhan is about 79 kms from Agra via AH-1/NH-2. 

Here is the famous Govardhan hill that Lord Krishna hoisted up one of His fingers to save the people from the wrath of Indra, the lord of rain. 19 kms away from Govardhan is the town of Barsana. 

This place is a must visit by all those who worship Radha, one of the paramours of Krishna. She is considered the incarnation of goddess on earth. This is the town of Nand Baba at whose place Lord Krishna spent his turbulent childhood. Many of the places mentioned in the books of mythology can still be found here. 

The next to visit on this trip will be Gokul which is 53 kms from Mathura on the return journey to Agra. The place is only 9 km from Mathura on Agra-Mathura road.  The place is famous for its association with the childhood of Lord Krishna where Krishna danced on the myriad heads of ‘Kaliya naag’ in the river Yamuna. Read More

How to reach

Drive via AH 1/NH 2 for 79 kms for reaching Govardhan. Drive via MDR 143 W for 19 kms to reach Barsana from Govardhan. Further on the same route at a distance of about 8.2 kms is Nandgaon. Gokul is on way back to Agra at a distance of about 15 kms from Mathura on AH 1/ NH 2 at a distance of about 9 kms.

Delhi

Delhi is merely 3 hours drive from Agra via the link of the Yamuna expressway. It is now possible to have a day trip from Agra to Delhi and visit some of the most splendid tourist sites in a quick sojourn to the capital of India. The places to visit on the day trip will be Jantar Mantar, Birla Temple, Vijay Chowk, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament house, India gate, Qutab Minar, Lotus temple and Raj Ghat. Read More

Sariska National Park

Situated in District Alwar, the Sariska Tiger Reserve is one of the best places to go for a day trip from Agra on Agra-Bikaner road /NH 11 at a distance of about 209 kms. The place was once the private hunting ground of the rulers of Alwar. 

It was declared a wild life sanctuary in 1995 and a tiger reserve in 1978.The area is full of dry deciduous forests and an ideal place for wild life. One of the great aspects of the reserve is the tiger rehabilitation/ relocation programme undertaken successfully here. How to reach

Drive on AH 1 up to Mathura and turn on MDR 94 to reach Govardhan. Turn right on MDR 70. After 13 km from Govardhan take RJ SH 14 also called Alwar Bharatpur Road at Nahar. Drive via RJ SH 25 from Alwar. Turn on to Pratapgarh Burja Road after 31 km to reach Sariska.
